We will see Salzburg not as tourists, but as participants in the living cultural process that shapes the laws of the opera stage. We will feel how history and modernity coexist and understand why this is precisely the place where musical trends setting the tone for the world are born.
In 2026, the festival will take place from 17 July to 30 August, with more than 170 concerts, productions, and performances in the programme. We will arrive in Salzburg at the height of summer, stepping straight into the heart of the festival and witnessing the season’s biggest premieres firsthand.
“The whole city is a stage” — this was the idea articulated a hundred years ago by the founders of the Salzburg Summer Festival. Those words remain true today: every summer, the ancient streets become one big stage for one of Europe’s foremost theatrical events. Celebrated artists from around the world take part in the programme, from Jonas Kaufmann to Daniel Barenboim and Teodor Currentzis.
